2026-27 Australian Itineraries: 99% Expansion and New Ships

Carnival Cruise Line has revealed its exciting 2026-27 itineraries, marking a major expansion in Australia with two ships from P&O Cruises Australia joining the fleet in March 2025. According to a press release, this addition will make Carnival the largest cruise line in the region, with four ships sailing from Australia: the Carnival Adventure, Carnival Encounter, Carnival Splendor, and Carnival Luminosa.

Significant Growth in Australian Market

Carnival’s 201 sailings represent a 99% increase from the previous season, solidifying its status as the leading cruise line in Australia. The expanded program features year-round sailings from Sydney and seasonal departures from Brisbane, with itineraries to some of the most beautiful destinations, including Moreton Island, the South Pacific, the Great Barrier Reef, New Zealand, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.

Strengthening Commitment to Australia

“With four ships, our commitment to Australia has never been stronger. The 2026-27 itineraries offer four times the fun,” said Kara Glamore, vice president of Carnival Cruise Line Australia. She added, “We’re excited to provide Aussie travelers with more options. Due to high demand, we’ve also boosted our short getaway offerings, giving everyone—from first-time cruisers to busy travelers—the chance to enjoy a memorable vacation at sea.”

More Options for Short Getaways

Responding to research showing that one-third of Australians feel recharged after a three- to five-day break, Carnival has doubled its offerings of two- to four-night cruises. This includes 78 short sailings from Sydney and 43 from Brisbane, ideal for those looking to unwind on a quick trip.

Exciting Itineraries from Sydney and Brisbane

Carnival Splendor: Sailing from Sydney, this ship offers itineraries from two to 12 days. Popular shorter options include a four-day trip to Moreton Island and five- to six-day voyages to Tasmania, featuring stops in Hobart and Port Arthur, with an overnight in Hobart. For longer adventures, the ship sails nine- and ten-day voyages to the South Pacific, visiting gems like Mystery Island and Port Vila. There’s also a 10-day cruise to New Zealand, stopping in Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
Carnival Adventure: Perfect for weekend getaways, Carnival Adventure sails from Sydney to destinations like Moreton Island. It also offers longer voyages, including a 12-day Fiji cruise in April 2027, visiting places like Lautoka and Dravuni Island. This ship will also join Carnival Splendor in offering trips to Melbourne for the iconic Melbourne Cup.
Carnival Luminosa: Departing from Brisbane seasonally, the Luminosa offers a range of itineraries from three to 14 days. Highlights include a six-day Great Barrier Reef cruise, with stops at Airlie Beach and Cairns, and week-long trips to the South Pacific, visiting Mystery Island and Port Vila. For those looking for something truly unique, a 14-day Carnival Journeys cruise will explore destinations like Norfolk Island and Tonga.
Carnival Encounter: Sailing from Brisbane, this ship will take guests on journeys ranging from short three- and four-day escapes to Airlie Beach, to longer voyages of six to 10 days exploring Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and the South Pacific.
