Carnival Cruise Line Celebrates 20 Years in Baltimore with Special Tribute to First Responders
Carnival Cruise Line recently marked two decades of sailing from Baltimore with a heartfelt celebration aboard the Carnival Pride, paying tribute to local first responders. The event honored those who played a critical role in responding to the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, reflecting Carnival’s strong connection to the community.
Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, hosted the occasion, welcoming notable guests including Maryland Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller, Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld, Baltimore Deputy Mayor J.D. Merrill, and Maryland Port Administration Executive Director Jonathan Daniels, alongside representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy.
During her remarks, Duffy expressed her appreciation for the local partnership, highlighting the heroic efforts of Maryland Transportation Authority Police first responders.
“As America’s cruise line, Carnival was proud to launch the first year-round cruise program from Baltimore with Carnival Pride. It’s only fitting that we celebrate 20 years of service in this great American city by honoring those who save lives and by recognizing the pride we take in offering unforgettable vacations from Baltimore,” Duffy said.
Carnival also announced a $25,000 donation to the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation to support its Energy Security and Infrastructure Resilience program. Recently refurbished in 2023, the Carnival Pride continues to sail exciting itineraries from Baltimore to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, and beyond, including Carnival’s new private destination, Celebration Key, launching in 2025.
