Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas is currently in drydock at the Navantia shipyard in Cádiz, Spain, for routine maintenance and upgrades. After completing a summer season in the Western Mediterranean, the ship arrived at the yard on October 1, 2024, marking its 15th anniversary.
In addition to undergoing standard class inspections and technical overhauls, the 2009-built vessel will receive updates to its public areas and amenities. Once the work is completed, Oasis of the Seas is set to resume service on October 24, 2024, with a 14-night trans-Atlantic cruise from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale. This repositioning voyage will include stops in Spain and the Bahamas.
For the 2024-25 winter season, the ship will offer three- to eight-night Caribbean cruises departing from Port Everglades, Florida. These itineraries will feature visits to popular destinations, including Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and various Caribbean ports.
As the inaugural ship of the Oasis class, Oasis of the Seas debuted as the world’s largest cruise ship in 2009. In 2019, it underwent a $165-million transformation under the Royal Amplification program, adding new attractions such as the Ultimate Abyss dry slide, The Perfect Storm waterslides, and a dedicated karaoke venue. The ship also received enhancements to its pool deck, themed in Caribbean style, and new panoramic-view suites in an expanded deck area over the bridge.
